It certainly has been an eventful day. I tried to be a good girl and wake up earlier than I have been lately – 9:00. That didn’t work so well. I woke up to my alarm, promptly reset it for 10:30, then fell back asleep. As those wise oracles of shampoo say, “Lather, rinse, repeat“; I repeated all those steps again at 10:30. Sad, isn’t it? I finally woke up at noon. That’s so sad I don’t even have to ask, so cross out that statement I made sentence before last.
I’ve been trying *so* hard to get back into a regular sleeping schedule, I really have. But it was so unbearable last night. I couldn’t fall asleep until 4 in the morning. I tried and tried, but nothing worked. I was going to take NyQuil tonight, but I’ve since forgotten and because I’m already upstairs I’m too lazy to go back downstairs and get some. Besides, my dreams are insane enough without adding any drugs to the mix.
That’s another problem, the dreams aren’t getting much better. Last night featured a swarm of killer bees in a German house that was originally owned by a friend of mine in Mississippi. It was rather stupid, but still one of those dreams where you spend the whole dream running around, so when you wake up you feel that strange residual phantom exercise pains. Or am I the only one with that problem?
At least that dream wasn’t violent. The dream I mentioned blog-before-last was violent and I still can’t get over it. My stupid over-active imagination tries to convince me that I’m seeing this same woman from my dream everywhere I turn, and that’s just not a good thing. My imagination is too busy, it should shut up and mind its own business for a change.
Without getting into nasty details, the dream I had was almost like the Sixth Sense, but worse. Far more graphic but only one dead person. But, um… never mind, I don’t want to get into it. I just need to forget it so I can move on and get some sleep.
After I finally woke up the day went pretty well. I got a cute present from a friend of mine, Greg, in Rhode Island. He’s been telling me about it for weeks. I opened the box up today and inside was a little brown teddy bear with a knitted sweater on that says “Love you Heather” on it. How funny/cute is that? I’ve never gotten a present like that before. It was all sweet and stuff, but don’t start thinking that. It was from a 14 year old boy who’s just a friend, got it?
This afternoon I went to the movies with my Dad again because we had another mystery shopping thing to do. We’re both pretty fed up with it. We almost got in two accidents on the way there – we had to go all the way into Merrifield! (That’s about 30 to 45 minutes away.) We got caught in a massive thunderstorm on the toll road. It was raining so much we literarlly couldn’t see the car in front of us. On the way home, we almost got rammed by a huge pick-up truck. And all to see a movie.
Once we got there the movie was pretty good. We saw ‘Signs.’ I thought it was an absolutely gorgeous movie, but I’m really not sure if I loved it. I liked it, I was really entertained, but I didn’t love it as much as The Sixth Sense. I didn’t want to own a copy of it. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood. Or maybe I’m too much of a traditional alien-movie-watcher; there has to be an even ratio of one ‘splosion to every 10 aliens. Maybe I should watch it again when I’m feeling better.
The acting was really good, and the photography was amazing. There was one shot where it was just a flashlight, lighting a little girl’s legs and her Cinderella skirt, surrounded by junk. It may not sound like much but it was pure genius. Tak Fujimoto and M. Night Shymalan combined are a dream-team. They really making a movie a motion picture; photography on the move; art in motion. I like that. A movie that’s not special effects eye candy, but composition, coloring, and great acting.
Okay, maybe I did love it, just cause it was pretty.
That’s just about it out of me. That was my day. I might try to relax and play a quick game of Risk on the computer before sleep. If I wear my eyes out that usually helps me go to sleep. I had to conquer the world twice before I could get to sleep last night. I think the heat might have had something to do with that, though.
