Oh so very tired. Way too tired. So this will have to be a short but sweet blog.
The meeting with Sujit went well, I think. 🙂 I had a great time at lunch and I nearly ODed on cornbread.
We went to a BBQ place for lunch, which as I’ve said, I’ve been very excited about since I was in cornbread withdrawl. I arrived early, not wanting to repeat what happened to poor Alastair when I met him the first time (I was 2 hours late, by no fault of my own.) I was nice and early at the restaurant and had a nice time just waiting and watching the Michigan VS. Iowa game at the bar.
He arrived and I recognized him immediately. He had two friends in tow, Thorick and Mel. Two other friends shortly joined us and we had a nice time. But when it came time to order I was trying to ask the waiter if I could replace one of the sides with an extra cornbread muffin. I didn’t want any of the other sides they had, I wanted cornbread. He just kept saying, “It’s a garnish, I’ll bring it out for free, what else do you want?” I didn’t want anything else, so I just told him to surprise me. Out he comes with the huge platter of pulled pork I ordered, fries, apples (that was the surprise), and three huge cornbread muffins! Three! And that wasn’t the end of this plethora of cornbread. When it came time to leave, Sujit asked for a bag for the cornbread and somehow the waiter misunderstood him. He thought we meant we wanted a bag full of more cornbread. After we clarified that the waiter said, “Okay, I’ll bring you a box for the extra cornbread, and I’ll even bring you more.” I walked out of that restaurant with two take-out boxes full of cornbread! I had it for dinner, and I still have more downstairs for tomorrow.
After lunch Sujit and I parted ways with his other friends, but we still had time to kill before we went to see a movie. We went over to Borders bookstore and wandered around. It was kind of strange since my Dad insisted on being close-by, so it felt almost like we were on a leash. (And as Sujit said in his blog report, he thought it was rather nervewracking. Well put.) We went off in search of ‘Chamber of Secrets’ in audio book form, then wandered around looking at stuff.
Around 3:00 we went over to the movie theatre where we met up with Kevin. We went to see the Transporter, which was okay. Nice for ‘splosions, bad for storyline, nice for Jason Statham. Yes, I’ll admit it now. I thought he was dang creepy when I started watching the movie, but he kind of grew on me after an hour and a half or so. Not saying I’m in love with the guy (Kevin – “Mrs. Heather Damon… *sigh*. Everybody else – Kevin started that joke, not me), I’m just saying he’s not as creepy as I thought he was before. So there.
After that, sadly, Sujit had to go back to where he was staying for dinner and some much-needed sleep. It was a nice, relaxed way to meet up with him, I think. (Well, as relaxed as it can be on a leash.) We’ll have the chance to get together again next month up in New York, which should be fun.
And after all that time I *still* forgot to give him something I’ve been meaning to mail to him for ages. My brain is so fried.
Speaking of frying brains, I need sleep before I turn into one of those “This is your brain” ads. “This is your brain. This is your brain running on sugar and no sleep.” That would not be a very “feminine” thing, now would it? 🙂 Hehehe, just kidding.
