This will be short tonight because I’m tired and I’m hungry, but I have happy news. 🙂

Daniel, a very kind person who signed my guestbook recently, told me about a band I’d never heard of before. Sigur Ros – a group of four guys from Iceland. Daniel had me download a song of theirs’, ‘Staralfur’, and after only one song I’m addicted. It’s amazing and an incredibly different sound. For example, the lead singer plays his guitar with a cello bow. It’s very interesting and difficult to describe – it’s not really techno, kind of in the same sense that Amon Tobin isn’t “techno.” It’s not alternative, cause it’s not whiny. It’s not really orchestral… it just is what it is, so go download it.

I got so addicted that I went to the band’s website last night and found out that they’re on an American tour at the moment – something they don’t do often – so I bought a ticket to their concert here in DC in November. I’m so excited! I’ve only been to one concert in my entire life and it was rather… stupid. I won tickets to see the Four Tops and the Temptations when I lived in Tucson, and it was a pretty sad trip. We had to drive to Mesa, and then the show wasn’t that great, and then we had to drive all the way home… and it just wasn’t that exciting. But this, going into DC, spending the afternoon at museums (hopefully), and then listening to a really awesome Icelandic band. Sounds like loads of fun to me, and I’m really excited about it. I even did a happy dance when I bought the tickets – I ended up bounding around the house for a while, until I realized that bounding kind of hurt and I almost hit my head on the ceiling a few times, so I decided to quit. I had to resign myself to just smiling a lot and doing a bit of less-dangerous frolicking.

As you can probably tell, I’m really tired and have started to step over the threshold into sleep-deprived insanity, so I think I’d better find a quick bedtime snack then get to sleep. Don’t you agree? Yes, I think so too.
