What a day I’ve had! Very eventful, I must say. I’ve heard all about what’s up with the ‘Good Omens’ project from the producer and, although they don’t need $15 million like Neil Gaiman thought, I’m hoping I’ll still be able to help somewhere. I love the book, and I’d love to see it on the big screen finally. But my lips are sealed about the details – since I haven’t found anything similar to what I’ve heard today anywhere on the net, I’m guessing they don’t want me blabbing about it here. So you won’t hear a peep from me.

After driving around for a while running errands, I decided to engage the final phase of my preliminary research for my television show idea. I got opinions from teachers, but what about parents? My first step was to send the idea to Translating Drew, since he’s familiar with the big picture of what I’m trying to do, and he’s also a parent. I figured he’d have some great insights, so we’ll see what he has to say. Let’s cross our fingers that it will be positive…

I spent the latter part of the afternoon with my nephew Max, who is still suffering through a rather nasty cold. My brother was right, he sounds like a miniature Joe Cocker. Even though I felt bad for him, it was hard not to think he was still horribly cute. The goofy voice, the slightly dopey demeanor, the absent-minded attempts to play; it was just too cute. And then, as we were sitting at the table eating pizza, he started blowing to cool off his pizza. But, of course, his aim was way off and he ended up blowing all over the rest of us. I asked him to stop, to which he replied, “aaahhh-why?” I explained that he was sick and that little germs were escaping from his mouth, and that if he blew them on us then we’d get sick. He was fascinated by this and thus followed a stream of pretty funny questions. My favorite was, “Are they a type of air?” I explained that no, they were just so little that we couldn’t see them. This somehow worked itself around in his head to the point that he came up with the idea that if he kept on blowing into his hands, he’d blow all the germs out, catch them in his hands, and then he wouldn’t be sick anymore. Needless to say, he spent the next fifteen minutes blowing air into his hands. He was disappointed, though, when he finally looked into his hands and remarked that, despite all of his efforts, he only managed to blow one germ out.

Soon thereafter, Mom, Grandma, and I went off to a party that Jen had been planning for some time for group of ladies from church. It was a pampering and relaxation night, where we would be served dinner and chocolates, and after eating we could all go around to several little stations that had been set up purely for the sake of pampering us. There was a lady giving hand massages, a make-up and facial booth, a manicure table, and even a paraffin wax hand treatment thing. It was great – I ended up getting a hand massage and my hands coated in wax. But the best part by far was borrowing a cute little baby boy from one of the mothers there and rocking him to sleep for twenty minutes. I really love babies. I’m afraid that after tonight’s exposure I officially have another case of Baby Fever: I know I really want one, but I also know I’m probably not having one for a good long while. *sigh*

This particular specimen was especially cute. He was only six weeks old and had the cutest head of hair! One lady actually thought the kid was mine because the baby’s hair color was exactly the same as mine. It wasn’t typical baby hair; it was still soft and everything, but it was really long and it kind of stuck up in spots. Like a really funny cowlick. His name was Owen and he slept peacefully on my shoulder, until suddenly he decided he was wide awake. He and I looked around the room for a while, then I made funny noises at him as I rubbed his belly. Babies love that. I’ve yet to meet a baby that doesn’t love it.

And now, here I am, having just finished a few extra things for my television show proposal. I decided I should create a few more examples and revise the story that sets up the whole show. Basically, I was doing some extra tweaking cause I was bored and couldn’t think about anything else. It’s been going through my mind all day, mixing and mingling with what I’ve heard about ‘Good Omens’. Let me tell you, it was confusing, especially considering the two projects aren’t really alike at all.

But now I’m sleepy and I have to get up early tomorrow to drive my Grandmother up to Baltimore so she can catch her flight back home to Arizona. And then I have a doctor’s appointment in DC. Lots of driving for me tomorrow. I need to remember to grab batteries for my mp3 player…
