Today is just heavenly, know why, know why? Because I got presents! Yesterday I received a box out of the blue containing the swingin’est CD ever – ‘Cocktails With Cole Porter’. My darling friend Sujit sent it to me, isn’t he just fabulous? The funniest thing is, the CD was a complete shock to me and I was completely thrilled, I thought Sujit was the best gift shopper in the world! The CD was just so perfectly suited to me – jazz greats like Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr, and Peggy Lee singing my favorite Cole Porter songs. When I thanked Sujit and told him about his wonderfulness, he told me of course it was perfect for me, because I’d put it on my wish list. Teehee, just goes to show you how well my brain is working. But I still give Sujit all the credit in the world, because he’s wonderful for buying it for me.
Today, things just kept getting better. This morning I was awoken by a phone call from a nice man named Brad, who was letting me know that I’m a winner. A few months ago my Mom and I went to J. Gilbert’s, a top-rated swanky steak restaurant here in the Washington area. While I was there, I dropped my pretty new business card in a contest box thing, and whaddya know, they picked me! Now ten of my friends and I get to go there for a lovely dinner, we can order as much as we want, and we don’t have to pay a dime! Even the tip will be covered! At a place where it’s usually about $80 a person, that’s quite an event. Little did they realize it, but the lovely folks at J. Gilbert just gave me a wonderful birthday present. They’re also being very sweet in letting me wait to schedule it – I told them I was having surgery, so they’re going to call me back in a few weeks so I can schedule it then. And the numbers work out just perfectly! That’s just enough to allow me to have a big belated birthday party with my family. 🙂 Wasn’t that sweet of them?
But you know what else, huh huh? That wasn’t even the nicest present I got today! Someone very, very sweet, kind, thoughtful, generous, and all around the nicest person in the world sent me a present. From my ridiculous wish list. And now, I am officially in heaven. I received a lovely box from Sephora this afternoon, courtesy of my friend Jordan, who also happens to be a former Daily Prophet columnist, and who also happens to be dating another former columnist and a very, very good friend of mine. (Isn’t that cute? The Daily Prophet brought them together! I feel so Yenta-y!) Jordan, the nice, wonderful, considerate, caring person that he is, decided to become an enabler to my addiction and sent me the perfume that I have been dancing around for weeks, waiting and waiting for them to release the eau de parfum version of a scent that I absolutely loved. Finally, Givenchy debuted the eau de parfum, and Jordan bought it for me! What a darling enabler he is! Inside that cute little Sephora box was a beautiful bottle of Very Irresistable eau de parfum, and now I am a very, very happy (and smelly) woman. What’s more, in all honesty, hand on my heart, Very Irresistable has usurped all others to become my new favorite fragrance. My goodness, one spray and it smells infinitely better than I ever remembered or ever hoped it would. Jordan, as the poem said, I now officially love you (although not in that way, because you’re Michelle’s. Now go buy her some!)
Mmmmm, presents, they make me oh so very happy. Now I feel all warm, and happy, and loved, and I smell fabulous! Dare I say it, I smell even more fabulous than ever. 🙂 Happy birthday to me, happy surgery to me, happy perfume to Heather, happy birthday to me!
Happy soon-to-be birthday, Heather. I’m glad you like the perfume.
And thanks for all the praise. This definitely makes up for all the times I ever felt like an ass about, well . . . you know.
So, happy birthday!
I’m just glad to hear you are doing better. Speaking of CD’s, I think my Weezer CD is still in your car somewhere.
