I have some bad news, so I’ve decided to wrap it up with some other news to try and make it less depressing. So I’ll start off with the good news, and then try my best to bring it all back around to the happy stuff. That way it’s sort of like wrapping the bad news up with a cute pink bow.

Anyway. 🙂 Here’s the happy news. A few months ago, my cell phone of two years somehow got cracked along the outer casing, just above the little LCD screen that’s on the outside. It didn’t bother me at first, but then I started noticing that every call I made was getting quieter and quieter. I was determined to just ride it out and not complain cause I didn’t want to bother my parents with it, but then I happened to find out a few days ago from my Mom that our contract with T-Mobile had expired and she’d been meaning to shop around for a new contract. I volunteered to do the research late last night since I couldn’t sleep, and I found out that the best deal going for us in regard to a family plan was still with T-Mobile. And better yet, they had Motorola Razr phones on sale!! And they were pink!! Or rather, to more precise, one of the Razr models on sale happened to be not just any shade of pink, but the very same shade of raspberry pink that’s the highlight of my blog. That color has kind of become my signature now, so of course, I really wanted that phone. That was new for me, since I’ve never really been into cell phones beyond just thinking of them as a necessity that wasn’t worth any extra spending to get something “cool.” But after living with a chunky fat phone for two years, the slim lines of the Razr – and the raspberryness of it – were very very appealing.

I gave Mom a complete graph of all the various family plans available so that she could choose, and naturally she decided to just renew our same old T-Mobile contract and – thankfully – she loved the Razr just as much as I did. So off we went this afternoon to the T-Mobile store, where I got my raspberry phone, she got a pink one with cherry blossoms on it, and we got a really awesome Samsung phone for my Dad that’s all cool and bright red and stuff. (He’s not allowed to take a camera-phone into his office, so he couldn’t get a Razr cause not only does it have a camera, it has a video camera too.)

Okay, so now that you know that I have a fun new toy to play with, I’ll give you the bad news. My surgery date has been postponed. Yup, the really time-critical important surgery has been postponed. Why? Because when my surgeon and anesthesiologist found out about my swelling, discoloration, and potential lymphatic/liver/kidney issues, they freaked and said there’s no chance in hell they’d risk putting me under, because they were pretty much convinced they might not be able to wake me back up again. That kind of puts a damper on how I was coming to terms with this latest health scare and all… cause Dr. Ruff is a pretty calm, laid back guy, so for him to react like that… yeah, maybe I shouldn’t be so accepting of all this.

The two doctors urged me to be seen ASAP, so I wrote to the doctor who originally diagnosed me at the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda. He was sweet enough to write back quite quickly despite his insanely busy schedule, and he was just as concerned as the other guys. He’s trying to find a place in his schedule where he can squeeze in an appointment for me so that the military can take care of any and all tests I may need.

*sigh* I can’t help but have this overwhelming feeling of, “Oh shit, here we go again…” Excuse the language, but I just can’t help it. How many times is my body going to come up with crazy weird symptoms just to play Stump The Doctor with? I swear, with all the times it’s done this to me, Stump the Doctor should be an Olympic sport, and I guarantee you I’d win the gold. It’s ridiculous, and I hate it, and I’m so not looking forward to all these tests. The last time I had to go through such an intensive round of tests at Bethesda, usual stoic me was reduced to crying hysterically in the halls of the military hospital. It’s not fun. In fact, it downright sucks. And it sucks all the more that it’s delaying an operation that I really really need, which in turn will delay my return to working and racing and all that good stuff that means I have an actual life outside of being confined to bed.

Suck. Suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, SUCK. Suck. And heck, since I already said it once, shit, too. That’s what this is.

Now back to pink, cause that’s enough of that. So… my phone is cool. It’s the first “cool” phone I’ve ever had. I got all excited tonight about making my own ringtones for it and I went absolutely mad cutting down Mp3s and making them all cool and fitting for my Heather Show Raspberry phone. I even did an amazing job – if I do say so myself – trimming out a great clip from the I Dream of Jeannie theme. How funny would that be as a ring tone? It’d kick butt, yes it would. But then, after spending an hour installing software that was supposed to transfer my new beloved ringtones… it didn’t work. They wouldn’t transfer. The program went kaput.

You may think this is another sad paragraph, but I promise it’s not. It’s just a lead up to a silly paragraph. Here’s what I mean – here I am, I have several goofy ring tones that I absolutely love, and no way to put them on my phone. I know there’s some silly expensive program I could buy from Motorola that *might* work to transfer the mp3s, but I want to know if there’s a Super Geek freeware alternative.

So here’s the deal. To all you Phone Geniuses out there, if you can help me sync up my Motorola Razr V3 with my computer and successfully transfer all of my ring tones to my phone (or even just one or two, I’m that desperate…), in return I will gladly give you all the ring tones I’ve made so far, and I’ll even help you make a few ring tones of your choice. I promise, I’m really quite good at it. I can fade in, fade out, and I’m very good at timing them to under 30 seconds and 300kb. They’re fab, and I think they’d make you smile.

If you think you can help me, post a comment here or email me at hlawver -AT- gmail dot com. Not only will I give you all the ring tones I’ve promised, but you will have my everlasting eternal love and gratitude. How can you say no to that? 🙂
