Guess what I saw on the side of a bus today!! ‘My Boys’ is coming back! I totally thought that show got canceled, and I was sad, but on my way back from getting an emergency hair cut this afternoon, I saw a bus on the toll road and it had a big ad that said new episodes of ‘My Boys’ are starting up on Monday on TBS! How fun is that?! Okay, maybe not so fun for the rest of you, since if I remember correctly I was the only one that really liked that show, but oh well. I can live with that. I still like it enough that I literally squealed and pointed fervently at the bus as it drove by. I’m sure I freaked several bus riders out as I leapt up and down in the passenger seat of my Dad’s BMW, but do I care? No! Cause my show’s back! Huzzah! And now I’m happily watching the first thirteen episodes in order, gleefully recalling memories of all of my boys and the various adventures we’ve been on together. And yet again, it’s making me with you all lived close enough so that we could play poker and drink beer every week! Well, root beer anyway, at least for me. 😉 I’d sit through the icky smell if you guys wanted it, cause hey, I love you that much. And that’s sayin’ something. Hehe.
Speaking of old things coming back, I finished the latest – and last – Harry Potter book tonight. I was a bit confused at the beginning of the book, considering I only read books 4, 5, and 6 once each, and barely remembered them, but it eventually came back to me. Or rather, enough snippets came back that I was at least able to muddle through the book. I have to say, though, I was pleasantly surprised. There were touches of sloppy writing here and there, but for the most part, the book was good. The deeper I got into it, the more difficult it became to put it down, and that’s always a good sign. I even stayed up reading it until 6 in the morning, just for the sake of tradition, thinking back to the days when I first got books one through three, and would read them repeatedly late at night in my old room in Sierra Vista. That room was perfect for late-night book reading. I had a super comfortable mattress that was on the floor (not cause I didn’t have a bed, but because of the design motif… and cause it was really fun to leap and roll over… okay, so I was a weird girl, still am, but that’s beside the point.) Anyway, with the mattress on the floor, it meant I could easily keep the books next to my bed in a neat little shoebox I’d pilfered from my Dad. I could lay there all night, occasionally looking up through a huge window I had in that room, just above my bed, that looked out across the foothills of the Huachuca Mountains. It was especially nice during monsoon season, watching the massive storms roll up above the tips of the mountains, then spill over into the valley in massive waves of bright lightning and window-rattling thunder. It made for great ambiance as I read the tales of Hogwarts, witchcraft, and Voldemort.
All this reminiscing about the good ole’ days of Potterdom got me thinking about the Daily Prophet, and I decided it’s high time I do something about it. So I’ve put up a slightly augmented version of a new site design I cooked up years ago, along with a letter explaining my absence and asking for help. Please do check it out, and hey, if you happen to be a clever and patient programmer who wouldn’t mind lending a hand to a 501(c)3 non-profit, send me a note. I could really, REALLY use the help – I want to finally put this expansion plan into action for the Daily Prophet that I’ve been dreaming of and working on for over, gosh, six years now. It’s about damn time, I say, but I can’t do it myself. I need to pull together a good team of programmers who can work patiently with me in the midst of all this health crap so that the Daily Prophet can finally get back to helping kids. So whaddya say? Wanna help out and build your resume at the same time? It’d make me happy, and I’d love you forever and ever and ever. Oh, and you’d also get a bit of positive attention for your work, since The Daily Prophet’s been mentioned in textbooks from MIT, NYU, and Stanford Law, and there’s an independent feature length Harry Potter documentary coming out soon and there’s a whole segment in it about me, The Daily Prophet, and PotterWar (more info on that coming up soon, I promise!) Don’t you wanna join in on the fun? Email me and we can talk about it, won’t you please? 🙂
Alright, that’s enough out of me for now. I’m going back to watching ‘My Boys’ and daydreaming about finally getting all of my own boys together in one room. Wouldn’t that be a hoot? Hehe.
Y’know, Heather, in your listing of all the Daily Prophet’s accomplishments, nowhere do I see “Brought together Jordan and Michelle, a couple that was meant for each other since birth.”
But I can forgive this one human error. -_^
Just let me know what I can do to help, and I’m totally there. I owe you one. I owe you for Michelle.
I just finished Harry Potter yesterday. It was great. A bit confusing, but I liked it.
