It’s celebrity day! Why? Because it is! Guess who I got an email from today! Michael J Nelson!! You know, the guy from Mystery Science Theater 3000! How geeky COOL is that?!

The reason he emailed was in response to a message I sent him a few days ago. See, on Friday, my Mom and I finally watched the fourth Harry Potter film.. and I’m sorry, but it sucked. Harry’s supposed to be 14 years old, yet Daniel Radcliffe looks like he’s weeeellll past puberty. And his acting! Hoooooly crap! It was SOOO bad, sorry, but it really was.

Anyway, suffice it to say, the movie was so painful that we turned down a chance to see the fifth film FOR FREE the next day. That’s how bad it was. But its badness was inspiring – I instantly thought, “Mike Nelson sooo needs to take this movie to the cleaners on RiffTrax…” But then I got to wondering: in the past year that RiffTrax has been around (happy anniversary by the way, guys!), why haven’t they already targeted PotterMania? You’d think with the release of the latest film, now would have been the perfect time. And then it hit me…

Warner Brothers. If they could threated 12 year olds, why wouldn’t they threaten Mike Nelson?

So I took matters into my own hands and I wrote to Mike Nelson. I offered my services as resident Potter Protector: thanks to PotterWar, I now have a working relationship with their Director of Internet and Anti-Piracy. I’ve helped avert several law suits, so I thought I’d offer my help to Mike. After all, it’d be an honor to help out my favorite host of MST3k. So I sent him a short email, begging him to take on the Potter films, and offering my assistance should he run into any legal roadblocks. I never expected a reply, though…

But he did! He replied! He wrote back! Aaaaa! And the heavens parted! Haha. He wrote, he was nice, and said he was very grateful for the offer… but the best part… he’s already planning on riffing the Potter films! How fantastic is that?! Rifftrax is taking on Potter! Waaahooo! And yes, I am a Potter fan, but you should all know by now, I’m not fan of the movies. And if Mike wants to take them on, I’ll be the first in line to buy the RiffTrax. You should too – Mike and his friends are in fine form, riffing modern movies and taking them to the hilarious cleaners. Check them out, you’ll be glad you did.

So what else happened on Celebrity Day? Well I’ll tell you… in the next blog! Mwahahaha! 🙂 Happy Celebrity Day!
