A new fancy strip mall has been under construction somewhat near my house for a while now, and since it’s close to the fancy grocery store we always go to, I’ve been eagerly driving by it every time I go just to see if anything has opened yet. Well, since I haven’t been able to go out that much lately, my Mom has been feeding my anticipation by bringing me news every time she gets back from her grocery shopping. There was one shop in particular that I was really excited about. They were one of the first to put their signs up, and oooh boy, I could hardly contain myself! The first time I saw their sign, I literally squealed with delight.
That place is Cheeburger Cheeburger. If you haven’t heard of it, then you’re missing out. Big time. They’re regularly ranked in the top five burger joints in the entire nation, and they deserve it. Their burgers are hand-made, not preformed, not frozen, and they’re made out of 100% certified Black Angus beef. Can you get an idea as to why I was so freakin’ excited that one was finally opening near my house?! Well, it gets even better.
Their Black Angus burgers come in a variety of sizes to please discerning appetites of all sizes. You can choose from a large variety of cheeses, and they have the biggest list of burger toppings you’ll ever see. And best of all, you can choose as many of them as you want, and almost all of them are free! (The only ones that cost extra are portobello mushrooms and bacon.) The list includes everything from the basics like lettuce and tomato, to the swanky like chopped garlic and onions, to the truly spectacular like onion rings and guacamole. And as if their topping list wasn’t already an amazingly large list, you should see all their milkshake flavors! It’s HUGE! It takes up an entire page of the menu!
Don’t even get me started on their onion rings. Best. Freakin. Onion. Rings. EVER! Ah, and their fries are pretty freakin awesome too. 🙂 The rings and fries are also fresh, never frozen, and the potatoes are fresh from Idaho. The onion rings, though, they’re a work of art. They’re the biggest onion rings I have ever seen in my life, and they’re so amazingly good. They’re lightly battered – just enough to give you a nice crunch – and they’re so sweet and magnificent… total heaven.
I could go on and on describing the place, but it’s just so fantastic that we’d be here all day. To wrap up the description I’ll just say that they totally deserve to be number 1 on that list of the nation’s best burger joints. Their burgers are fresh, fabulous, and they don’t break the bank at all. A quarter pound cheeseburger with all the toppings you could ever want is only like $5. Total perfection.
I went there for the first time today with my Mom. We went over there cause Mom found out that Cheeburger opened a couple days ago, and there was a new FedEx Kinkos having their grand opening today in the same strip mall. We went to the Kinkos first to make sure we wouldn’t forget, cause they were selling USB memory sticks for only $10. We wandered in, and man, their grand opening party was so crowded. There was a Washington Redskins player there, but don’t ask me which one. All I know is that his head was super shiny. Anyway, I walked in just trying to get my memory stick and get out. But suddenly this employee grabs me and ushers me over to the dude with the shiny head. And since I’m too polite to say no, they assumed I wanted my picture taken with the shiny head, even though I had no clue who he was and I’m too much of a geek to watch – let alone understand – football. So I got an autographed football, and I had my photo taken… I said thank you like a good girl, then ran as fast as I could away from all the football fanboys. I got my memory stick, got out, and went over to Cheeburger.
I was very impressed that the manager of Cheeburger showed my Mom and I to our table, and he was very nice. But best of all, he spoke English! That’s totally shocking around here! Our waitress was really nice and did an excellent job, but best of all, she wasn’t overly friendly. I hate that, how it’s a fad now for waiters to pretend to be my best friend with that whole attitude of, “Heeeey, my name is Dirk! I’m gonna be your best friend, even though you don’t know who I am, and all you wanna do is eat!” I mean, I like people to be friendly and all, but that’s just awkward.
I got a quarter pound cheeseburger with cheddar cheese, onion rings, and ketchup. OOoh, there aren’t enough words to describe how fantastic it was. You just need to go try it for yourself. If you live within a 50 mile radius of a Cheeburger Cheeburger, you HAVE to go try it out. I promise, you won’t regret it. It’s my new happy place – the food is great, it’s not overpriced, the restaurant isn’t too loud, and the service is great. You can pretty much guarantee that I’ll be going to this place a lot… and singing its praises. 🙂
Now go! And experience the joy that only a well made burger can bring!
Cheeburger Cheeburger does rock (20 ounce burger)! Glad one is opening up nearby. Much better than having to go to Midlothian for a burger run.
Wow, that does sound good. I’d suggest taking Michelle there, but she’s not really a burger person. If they serve a burger with pasta or seafood as a topping, on the other hand . . . .
I’m happy to read that you are getting better! I’ve heard of Cheeseburger Cheeseburger, but Jose is going to LOVE this joint. He is a milkshake freak! Perhaps we’ll go tonight! Thanks , Heather. Hope to see your smiling face soon.
