[singing]I’m soooo excited! And I just can’t hiiiiiiide it![/singing]

    Guess what I just got?!?!?!

    A free iPhone!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you believe it?!?! Neither can I!!! I got it free thanks to my brother Steve’s fantastically wonderful new girlfriend, Emily.

See, a couple weeks ago, when my brothers Kevin & Tim first arrived for our big family visit, Emily came over for dinner one night so that she could meet them. When she walked in, Kevin and I were talking about iPod Touches. I’d been contemplating buying one after seeing how fun Kevin’s iPhone was. I realized it would be awfully handy for carrying around to Doctor’s appointments, because not only could it play audio and video like the amazing iPod that my good friend Sabbrielle bought me a few years ago (which has saved me at more protracted doctor’s office appointments than I can count), it would also allow me to play games, browse online (my local hospital has wi-fi), talk to people, AND most importantly, it would allow me to record audio notes to myself so I wouldn’t keep on forgetting important stuff the doctors told me about. That’s been a problem over the past couple of months for reasons I won’t get into now.

The main reason I was hesitating about buying an iPod Touch, though, was because as of right now, they don’t have a microphone. Which would make it kinda hard for me to record those audio notes I need. There are rumors that the 3rd generation Touch will have a camera and microphone like the iPhone does, but that’d mean not only would I have to wait, but if those rumors turn out to be true, I’d have to spend a heckuva lot of money to get one. And as of right now, I certainly don’t have anywhere near that kind of money.

At that moment, Emily asked if I wanted to play with her brand new iPhone 3G for a while (at which point my brother Kevin got *very* jealous). I played with it, playing awesome games like ‘Pocket God’ and ‘Diner Dash’, and soon enough, I was hooked. It showed me that the iPod Touch would be perfect, because it’s so small, portable and lightweight. While I do have portable gaming devices, since they’re kinda heavy, I don’t always take them if I expect the appointment to be quick. But all too often, appointments can turn out to take longer than expected. Then I’m stuck without anything to take my mind off of the pain of waiting around for hours in stuffy waiting rooms. But an iPod Touch – if the 3rd gen gets a camera & microphone upgrade – would be perfect.

So I was hooked… and I kept talking about it for days… and I kept thinking about it for days…

Until one day, my brother Steve piped up, “You know, since Emily just bought her newer iPhone, she still has her old one sitting around that she’s not using. If you want, you could ask her if you could buy it from her.”

Ah-ha! That seemed perfect! I don’t mind if it’s a little old and not the latest technology, because hey, an older iPhone would be just like having an iPod Touch, but with the camera and microphone that I need! Awesome!

The next time Emily came over for dinner, I asked her if I could buy it from her. Her reply? “Sure, but you could just have it if you want.”

    Isn’t she totally awesome? 🙂

So now I have my iPhone and I love it!! I don’t have to pay for AT&T service for it to fulfill my needs, so it’s basically just an iPod Touch, but with that all-important camera and microphone. Awesome, huh? And I have to say, Emily kept it in absolutely immaculate condition!! It looks brand new!

I’m utterly thrilled with my new toy! It’s totally awesome and I’m completely in love with it. Emily also left the games on it that she’d already bought!! So it’s preloaded with Pocket God, Diner Dash, and a bunch of other games! (Which is great, cause I’d gotten kind of addicted to Diner Dash and have been playing it online ever since… teehee.) The iPhone’s first doctor’s office test drive will be this Friday, and I can’t wait! (Which sounds strange, in the same sentence as mentioning I have a doctor’s appointment…)

My only problem now is, I need to think of something really nice to do for Emily, since she wouldn’t let me pay her for it. Anybody have any ideas? If you do, post them in the comments please! 😀 Maybe together we could come up with something totally awesome. 🙂

Yay, iPhone! Thanks again, Emily!! You rock. 🙂 (Of course, you still rocked before you gave me your old iPhone, but this is just even more confirmation of just how much you really do rock, hehe.)
