I haven’t gotten anything done today. It’s another one of those “blah” days, it seems I’m in that usual After-Overworking phases where I just feel worn out and idea-less. This usually happens when things get piled up and end up happening all at once. Then they finish all at once and I’m left sitting in the quiet, wondering where all the work went. Of course, that doesn’t mean I don’t have anything to do. There are still the usual things – update the Daily Prophet, work through email, the odd design project for a friend. But nothing grandiose. Usually this phase only lasts a day or two, but because I’ve been sick off and on it’s making it last longer.
I felt pretty sick this morning, and thankfully I was able to just laze around and help myself recover by the afternoon. It’s all my stomach, I’m at yet another juncture where something’s about to happen – I’m about to shed 15 pounds again, but for some reason it’s taking a really long time and a great deal of pain in order to get to that point where I can just lose the weight and move on with life. I hate this part. That constant knife in my stomach is not fun.
But maybe it’s more than that. I *do* have a fever at the moment, which definitely isn’t a good sign. I can’t find a thermometer so I can’t give you an exact number, but I can tell. My eyes start to burn, my face has turned a great shade of red, my lips got real dry real fast, and my ears feel hot. That’s always what happens when I get a fever. I’m hoping I don’t have some strange delayed version of whatever it was that my brother had. I don’t want to be out of the running for a few months like he was. I have things to do, places to go, people to meet, countries to conquer! 🙂 Hehe.
I managed to do something – albeit small – this afternoon. I got a free DVD, which is always exciting. The new version of “Planet of the Apes.” I had to choose between that and “Anna and the King.” Everything else was… extremely stupid. After much deliberation I decided to go with the apes because action movies are allowed to be stupid and they can easily be watched again and again because it’s just one of those happy, mindless movies. Whereas ‘Anna and the King’ is still a good movie and it was very pretty, it’s not one I can imagine wanting to watch over and over and over again. But, I still would have liked it. I just had to choose in a split second and Apes fit my mood more, I guess. When I’m feeling sick I typically like two types of movies; Fred Astaire-style musicals with lots of dancing, or action movies. Star Wars was always a staple growing up for when us kids got bad cases of the flu or whatever, and I could have gotten Phantom Menace for free, but ah. I have that on VHS and didn’t feel the need to get it on DVD. (I know, mark me a heathen, I don’t care. At least it’s a similar word to my name.)
On a strange note – my exboyfriend got married yesterday. That feels really strange, in a way. And that’s all I have to say about it.
On a happy note: Today (it’s still October 4th to me) was my nephew Max’s third birthday. We all went over to his house around 5:30ish, had beef stew for dinner, opened presents, and watched ‘Monsters, Inc.’ on their brand new big screen TV. It’s huge. (That wasn’t Max’s present, that was Kevin’s Whoohoo-I-got-a-promotion present.) It was nice and relaxing, and I got to spend a lot of time playing with Max. He kept tackling me, then he’d sit on my lap for a while and just cuddle. He wasn’t much of a cuddler when he was younger, it’s nice for a change now.
For his birthday I made him a lovely fleece blanket with lots of circles and colors on it. He liked it, which is good.
I think I may lay down now and watch a movie. Hmm, ‘Planet of the Apes’ or ‘Lord of the Rings’… Bah, new toys call for immediate play, so maybe I’ll futz around with the special features.
