Today went better. I got to sleep in after saying up so ridiculously late last night. Shortly after I woke up, we all went out to lunch (yes, lunch) at one of our favorite restaurants. I was brave and tried something new; Grecian-style London Broil. Mmmmm… I can’t even tell you everything that was in it, but it was fabulous.
On our way home, my Mom stopped at one of those pumpkin patch things that people set up in grocery store parking lots because she saw that they had mums on sale. She bought three big pots of mums, then we got back home again. Once we got there, I dug up our little patch of dirt by the mailbox because it had been overgrown with weeds and looked nasty. I had a great time kicking the shovel into the earth, ripping up the roots of the weeds, then throwing them all away in my handy little trash bag. That whole process took about 45 minutes because it was seriously encrusted in guck. Then, I planted the mums and all was well in the world.
I went about pruning the hedges and feeling very Titchmarsh-y. If they ever need a replacement for Charlie on Ground Force, baby, I’m so there. 🙂 Hehehe. I did a fantastic job shaping the hedges back into their lovely rounded selves, but decided that the weather was too perfect to go back inside. The entire sky was gray, mist floated everywhere, and it left the leaves covered in dew. Plus, another sign of fall left its mark today; I could finally see my breath. I decided that since the sniper’s been caught I don’t have an excuse anymore, so I washed off my hands, and went for a walk.
It was lovely, but this time I didn’t have my CD player with me. I was a little worried about it getting wet since the mist kept getting heavier. But, I walked around for a while until my legs actually burned a little, both on my skin from the cold, and inside from the exercise. It was a productive walk, both physically and mentally. I have another screenplay to write and I’m a little stuck on the outline. It’s for a short-film screenplay competition where the prize is having the film made professionally, and then released around Europe. I figure, I already have an idea based around the other screenplay I wrote, and I think it’d be beautiful. But, I got stuck last night when I was writing the outline. I thought about it during my walk and worked my way through the writer’s block, and now I’m all set to continue setting up the outline.
By the time I got back home it was actually starting to rain, so my timing was perfect. I’ve spent the rest of the evening pretty much goofing off because I think I walked *too* much. My legs kind of ache and I’m a bit tired. Granted, of course, even after sleeping in I don’t think I got much sleep last night, so I’m sure that added to it.
Either way, it’s been a nice and relaxing day. There are brownies in the oven now, so I’d better go downstairs and check on them. I’ve given up sweets for a while, but I decided a tradition needs to be upheld – brownies at the onset of autumn are a staple of a good psyche. Who am I to mess with happiness? I’ve been good all week, no ice cream, no candy, no sweets. After being so good, and after that long walk, I deserve a bit of brownie. So, off I go, before I burn them.
