I completely forgot to mention another interesting part of the concert. At one point the lead singer lifted his guitar to his face and sang into it, creating this really strange echoing falsetto sound. It was amazing, and made me realize that parts of their songs that I thought were digitally edited were just caused by their creativity. It makes it that much stranger, in a good way.
I accidentally slept in too late again. My Mom and I went out and about to run errands and get a few things done. I went to Target, dropped off the film at the One Hour Photo place, then off we went to Best Buy. 😀 Just as I said I would, I bought Sigur Ros’ latest album, but that wasn’t the end of it. I had a lot of time to kill so I wandered over to the big screen TV department, then I went to check out the digital cameras. Yummy! I found a few that I’ve decided to buy should I get that job I applied for. Even after all of that I still had way too much time on my hands so I wandered around the DVD section. I found one of my favorite childrens movies for only $10 and had to get it; ‘The Secret Garden.’ I wasn’t planning on watching it this afternoon, but when I got back home my cold met up with me again and I felt pretty miserable. I listened to the Sigur Ros album for a while, but I wanted to lay down and watch the movie.
Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself. After Best Buy I went back to Target and ran in to get the pictures. As soon as I ran in the two 20-something-year-old girls that worked there got all excited and exclaimed, “Your pictures from that concert turned out *SO* well!!” They pulled them out and started showing them to me. One asked me who it was that I saw, while the other girl kept saying, “I went to a concert on Thursday and tried to take pictures, but they didn’t turn out half as well as yours. Here, look at this!” Then she actually pulled some photos out and showed me. She was right; all she got were the backs of people’s heads and some strange red glowing lights beyond them. Granted, my photos didn’t turn out sharp or perfectly, but they did turn out a lot better than I expected. For some reason my camera switched to panoramic a few times, and I didn’t even remember it had that feature, nor do I have any clue how I managed to turn it on and off without realizing it. But I am so grateful for that panoramic option, even though it meant I lost a few photos toward the end of the roll. I’m peachy with that, because the four panoramic shots I have are mind-blowing. My all-time favorite is so amazingly clear that despite the immense fog in the room you can still see the faces of two girls that were projected onto that giant screen in the back. They’re surrounded by blue and green hues, and it looks spectacular. Also, Kevin will be happy that I managed to get a panoramic shot of his favorite projection from the first song; a faded, still face. Hurrah for a nice camera!
I’m going to scan all the photos tomorrow hopefully, then upload them so you can all see them and get a feel for what I’m so excited about.
Other fantastic news – my Lush order finally arrived last night!! I’m thrilled about that and I fully plan on taking a nice long shower tomorrow with all my lovely new things. The bottle of shampoo I got is *huge*!! It’ll easily last me a year, which makes me really happy.
Yet even more fantabulous news – my friend Lindsay, for whom I created a full curriculum in an effort to convince the state she lives in to allow her to be home-schooled, sent me an email this afternoon. After lots of hard work and endless phone calls, her district has finally allowed her to leave public school and become an official home-schooler! I am extremely happy for her, since she’s had a hard time in high school. She’s a brilliant girl who’s just been smothered in the wrong system for her needs.
And now I’m off to bed. Good night!
