I forgot to mention some good news from today! I got an envelope from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the mail – they want me to send my screenplay in again for the next round of the Nicholl’s Fellowship, that big feature-length screenplay competition where the grand prize is around $30,000. I wrote the script ahead of schedule for that competition last year. Originally I was going to wait until the novel was finished and published, because I was hoping by then I’d know what the heck I was doing. 🙂 Novel’s still not done, but the screenplay is. I’ve been touching it up since last year, so maybe I’ll have a better shot this year. They sent me an application to fill out. As soon as I get more pre-hole-punched paper I’ll print it out and mail it into them. And better yet, this year it will arrive long before the deadline. Hooray! I wouldn’t mind having $30,000 right about now, especially with the future option to produce the film. Definitely good news. 🙂
