I’m back!
It’s been ages since I’ve blogged properly, I know, I know… shame on me! But it’s time to move on, press forward, take all the fabulous experiences from the past two months and use them to make everything bigger, better, and all the more fabulous. 🙂
But just what *have* I been up to for the past two months? Good question. I’ve tried very hard over the past few days to write a concise wrap-up blog to post in lieu of this rather pathetic “I’m back!” post, but I’m afraid it all got a bit too serious. And really, who wants to be concise and serious all at the same time? Not me. At least not right now anyway. I decided that, since I’ve been gone so long, I should come back with style and some pop. Things have been left a bit dusty in my absense so I need to liven it up a little bit.
So what shall I tell you about? Plans! Hoorah! This is usually where everyone who regularly reads my blog groans and says, “She’s at it again…” But this time, I have back-up. Yup, that’s right. I’ve come up with yet another ridiculously ambitious plan. *However*, I’ve got an even bigger fire under my butt than ever to get this one up and running. Forget Virgin University for now – Richard says that’s on hold (I finally heard back from him on that – stupid war getting in the way.) Instead, let’s focus on the one thing I’ve done for the past three years that’s actually produced something – The Daily Prophet.
I’m going back to my roots, I’m expanding it, I’m determined to get this up and running. I’ve been dreaming about this expansion for about two years now, and that’s far too long to hold onto a dream without seriously trying to make it happen.
Some lovely people that I met last week in London have offered me some advice on how to find funding for the Daily Prophet. What am I going to do to it? The same thing I’ve been talking about for ages: http://www.dprophet.com/expand Only *this* time, it won’t just be me running the show. I want a staff. A real staff. A paid staff. Just a few extra people to help me run things, just in case I fall ill or have to run out of town again. Things can’t fall to pieces just because I do quite regularly.
I don’t mean a large staff. I think the site would run swimmingly with a programmer, two sub-editors, and myself. That way, there’s always back-up. Oh, and a board of directors would be lovely, as that helps with the whole getting-funding issue. Now I just have to figure out who I’d like to ask to do what. I figure I could run the whole operation on a rather small initial investment. I might even be able to pull some strings with just the right people to get the server at a cut rate, and *maybe* free hosting. I just need a bit of extra help.
But I’m determined. I’m going to dedicate myself to picking the Daily Prophet back up, dusting it off, and giving it a nice spit-n-polish. Hooray! 🙂
Don’t worry, all this hip-hip-hooraying is really for my benefit. I want to spread the joy, get people excited, see if people care. I know some people do, but it never hurts to be reminded, right? 🙂
This blog can’t be too long because I have work to do. I may not have wanted to post a big log here of my various journeys, but that doesn’t mean I won’t have one at all. I haven’t felt too well over the past few days – I kind of over-worked myself while I was in Britain. I’ve also had a few doctors appointments already. I would have liked to have a log started by now, but I honestly didn’t have time to write anything while I was there. Never fear, I have a keen memory – how could I possibly forget any of the wonderful things that happened? 🙂 I do have things to jog my memory: photos, itineraries, cute anecdotes. I’m going to try my best to either write some of the blog tonight, organize a smaller photo gallery (not enough webspace for the full lot, I’m afraid), or create the new design for the log. I have some of my happy-perky-bloggy music playing, which thankfully has perked me up a bit. I’ve been resting as much as possible this evening in order to work up some energy so I can get something done. Wish me luck! I might need it. If my luck holds out, I want to have the log up by this weekend, mid-week next week at the latest.
And I’ll blog tomorrow. Dang it, I really will. I miss blogging every day. Plus, I want to keep up all these new exciting numbers I’m getting – I’m averaging 162 visitors a day! 🙂 Many thanks to my good friend Paul for keeping up with occasional updates while I’ve been away in England. Be sure to leave him a message in the guestbook telling him thanks. 🙂
One more time: hoorah!
