Kevin was sweet enough to take me out to lunch and to see ‘The Hulk’ yesterday. 🙂 I had loads of fun. Got Vietnamese food. Mmmm. It felt so good to get out of the house.

So. The Hulk. I’m still not sure I really liked the movie. The editing was awesome! The scene changes, cut-aways, cartoony frames, and that awesome white outline of a certain character as you know he’s about to die, it was all very cute and inventive. But, the movie seemed really slow. It took *ages* for the guy just to turn green. Of course, I may not have been in the right mood for it. I did, after all, feel absolutely freezing cold in the theatre. No idea why, really, Kevin said he wasn’t cold. But I was shivering. I also drank way too much pink lemonade, meaning I had to excuse myself from the theatre several times. Oh, and there was no comic relief in the movie. I think comic book movies, even though they’re usually somewhat serious, should always be rife with in-jokes and a good sense of humor. This one was just so tense and serious that there was no relief at all.

So, I’m still confused, not sure if I liked it or didn’t. I’m kind of… neutral. Maybe I’ll make a decision later.

It looks like Steve’s planning on staying in Arizona for another week, so I have to be all alone again. This time I think Lis’s mother is going to stay with me at night. That should be fun, I like her Mum, otherwise known as Kate. She’s very interesting to talk to, knows loads about ancient history, art, all sorts of cool things. I normally don’t get to talk to her too much one-on-one, we’re always at some party or family/friends get-together.

I wonder what I’ll do this week to keep myself occupied. Thankfully I decided to sign up for Netflix, so tomorrow I should have three lovely DVDs to watch. I’m also still reading the Harry Potter book. It’s taking me ages. I’m still only on page 374, and nearly all of my friends are already done with it. So far, I’m not sure how I feel about the book either. (Geeze am I noncommittal or what? Hehe.) I really should have started counting how many times a character said something “coolly”. It seems nearly everyone is frigid, distant, and cold when they speak. That’s just a bit sloppy. And, besides that, several sentences are just oddly constructed. I’ve had to read a few several times over to try to understand what she possibly meant, and there were a few instances where it was nearly impossible to tell who was speaking, or why certain things happened. One time, an owl landed on someone’s blank piece of parchment, and for some reason the owl left inky footprints. Huh? It didn’t have any reference to the owl having dirty feet, or stepping in ink, or anything. And it was *blank parchment*.

I won’t go into details, so I don’t spoil it for anybody, but I’m quite pleased how many rumors I got right in my fan fic. 😀 I’ve been spotting several things that are straight from Harry Potter and the Idolatry of Yore. I’m definitely not saying she stole the ideas, definitely not, I’m just saying it’s very funny that those rumors turned out to be partially true.

I hope the book gets better. The sloppy sentences are kind of disconcerting, as are the constant references to everyone being so cold in speech. But we shall see.

On a happier note, some lovely friends are coming to see me soon. 🙂 My good ole’ friend Nate is coming in August. I haven’t seen him in at least three years. I first met him in Italy when I was 12, had a crush on him for a while, went to see him several times after he moved to Florida (another Air-Force-Brat like me, he was). I actually only recently heard from him last week, after not hearing from him for about 6 months. He just up and decided to come see me spontaneously, so we’ll see how that goes. Should be fun. Apparently he’s changed a lot over the past few years. For one thing, he sounds nothing like he used to. He called me several months ago out of the blue (he seems to like doing that…) and he said, “Guess who this is!” when I picked up the phone. His voice had changed so much I didn’t have the faintest idea who he was.

Another lovely friend will hopefully be coming to see me in September. Which would be lovely, since I haven’t seen him in a while.

I can’t sleep again. Big surprise. Stupid cold. I think tomorrow I may just take it easy again, read the book, and watch ‘How to Marry a Millionaire’ – one of the movies that will be arriving from Netflix. 😀
