I accidentally slept too long again today. Three-thirty in the afternoon this time. I couldn’t help it, though – I was up until eight in the morning the night/morning before because I wasn’t feeling well at all. Food poisoning, I think – you can figure out the rest. And as you can see, I’m up late again tonight, as it is now 2:41 in the morning. Oops. I promise, as soon as I’m done with this blog entry it’s off to bed with me. I had things to do, it was unavoidable.

I spent the evening rearranging some things in my room. What started out as a simple framing project turned into three hours of work. You see, while I was gone a whole bunch of my ebay purchases arrived. Six of them, to be exact. All of them are vintage advertisements from the 1940’s and 1950’s. I love them to death and would hate to see any of them damaged. So, I immediately pulled out some big frames that I had purchased for another project and started framing each ad individually. The other project – framing my various news clippings – will just have to wait, because right now, I’m too enamoured with these old ads.

I framed each ad and admired each one in turn. Then, I leaned them carefully against my computer desk. But it just wasn’t enough. I couldn’t see all of them and I was worried they might get damaged somehow. This led to a search for a hammer and some nails so I could start hanging them on the walls. Enough waiting around, it was time to decorate. After begging my mother to stop by Home Depot to pick up some nails for me, I got to work on the great hanging project at around 8:30pm.

My wall is now lined with fourteen frames of various sizes. Literally half of my wall, from chair-railing-to-ceiling, is coated in frames and pretty pictures. You know what the cool part is? Having things hanging so high has actually made my room feel really tall. It’s the strangest thing, but I honestly can’t believe I didn’t anticipate that. I mean, after all, it’s pulling the eye upward, so naturally you’d think it’d make the ceiling look bigger than it actually is. Either way, I love it. I love it so much, in fact, that I immediately went back to Ebay and started bidding on some other ads. There’s still space to cram four more ads up there! 🙂

I took pictures of my new wall, but don’t bother counting the frames – after taking the pictures I added four more little frames along the bottom. So now you’ll only see the main ten frames that are up there. Click here. It’s cute, isn’t it? I just love it.

After hanging everything up on the wall, I looked down again and realized just how badly I had dismantled my room in order to get to the wall. The room was an absolute pig sty. Of course, it was already a mess before the dismantling, but at this point I could barely walk around. So I spent the next few hours cleaning my room as best I could, considering I still have stacks of books everywhere thanks to some amazing collapsing shelves that fell apart on me. I really need an apartment, just because all of my stuff won’t fit in this room anymore.

I’ve been hard at work writing my travel log for the Berlin trip. I didn’t have time on the actual trip to write extensive entries, so I just jotted down the details and now I have to fill in with all the cute details and anecdotes. I’m only through the first entry, but it’s rather long and pretty good, I think. I’m hoping to have some time to sit down and write the next few days worth. I want to get that up on the net fast cause lots of people are asking me for details already.

And now I think I’d better get to sleep before I end up staying awake until eight in the morning again. Please post a comment and let me know what you think of the wall. 🙂 Ta!
