Happy belated Independence Day, everybody! I know, I’ve been bad about blogging lately, but I’ve been busy. Busy with what, you ask? Redesigning my blog! Hooray! Are you excited? Are you on the edge of your seat with suspense? Because dang, I am! I love the feeling that comes with a design job well done – the pride, the excitement, the anticipation, the downright out-and-out giddiness. Ah, fun fun fun.
So I’ve been working on the redesign for about three or so days, and I think it’s finally ready. Thankfully my buddy Mike is going to walk me through coding it in CSS, so no more stinky tables. And hopefully in the process I’ll be able to remember enough of what’s going on so I can start making all my other sites in CSS. Wouldn’t that be peachy?
Apart from just redesigning the blog, I’m also redesigning a whole line of merchandise for the new and improved bloggy store. Cause, you know, the new blog’s gonna have a theme, and there are all sorts of cute accessorizing options to be explored and conquered. It’s uber-cute, if I do say so myself, and it’s been loads of fun to work on. Hopefully the new look will be launched some time in the coming week. Cross your fingers, and let’s all hope it goes swimmingly.
I was so excited about my blog, that I ended up designing a new look for my friend Sujit’s movie review website. He hasn’t launched it yet, but the new look should be up there by Thursday or so. I was hoping to be able to wait to code that one until I relearned CSS, but he needed it by a certain date, so eh, I had to use tables. Oh well. I can go back and fix it later, I guess.
I’m still riding the wave of designery goodness – I agreed to do another website for a friend of a friend. This time I’m not doing it for free, though, like I would if it were just a friend, rather than a friend once removed. The cool part is, I’m going to get paid in two silk saris from India, as well as matching bangles and stuff. How cool is that? I’m all about trading skills for exotic silk. Now I just have to decide which colors I want… Blue? White? Pink? I just don’t know…
Hmm, should I drop a hint about the redesign? Let’s see… Whilst designing, I played a steady soundtrack of David Bowie, Martin Denny, Xavier Cugat, Henry Mancini, and just a dash of No Doubt. Strange mix, isn’t it? I’m positive that the eclectic mix of Lounge and Whatever will show in the design. 🙂
Okay, I’ll quit babbling now, because I have products to design. Yippie!
