I can’t sleep. I’ve got insomnia bad. Worse yet, my stomach’s killing me. Taquitos are bad. Very, very bad.
So I’m not sure what to write. I just felt like blogging.
I had a rather nice day today. Slept in a bit, drove around with Neil so he could go apply for jobs, went shopping, got some new shoes, la la. Then, later this evening, I went with Mike to get a chocolate volcano and we ended up checking out a golf course that’s in the area. Mike was the one who wanted to see the golf course, I was kept entertained by gaggles of deer that were frolicking about. There were so many of them, and they were so cute! There were even two cute little white-spotted baby deer, munching on grass with their mommy. I really, really wish I had taken my camera with me. I was two feet away from them today, and all I could think was, “Oooooo! Cute!! Now why don’t I have my camera!?” I’ve decided that I need to just start carrying it with me everywhere, because there have been a lot of moments like that recently. I think I might venture out o that park/golf course/thing around the same time tomorrow to see if I can catch them again and this time get a few photos. Of course, maybe this time I’ll only agree to take Mike if he’ll quit laughing at how I’m reduced to a giggly little girl at the sight of something as cute as Bambi.
Speaking of Bambi, I really hate that movie. Obviously I have nothing against deer, it’s just that I haven’t seen that movie since I was seven, right after I fell off my bike and fractured my skull. Only, we didn’t know I’d fractured it yet. Egads, bad memories attached to that awful movie.
I suppose if I want to carry my camera around, I’ll have to start carrying a purse again. *sigh* Earlier this year I actually bought a leather wallet at a mens department store, just so I could slip it in my back pocket like all my brothers do. I had always been jealous that they didn’t have to carry a purse, then I realized, duh, I can buy a wallet and do that too. There’s no law that says I can’t – so what if people give me funny looks when I whip it out to pay for something? I can cope with funny looks if it means my shoulders don’t ache from carrying around unnecessary weight. Wallet goes in one back pocket, cell phone in the other, keys up front, and I’m good to go. But the camera… too bad it’s not small enough to fit in the other pocket. Oh well.
So another thing I did tonight, after I got back and realized I couldn’t sleep, was create a placeholder page for my new blog. You see, I bought another domain name… believe it or not, that brings the grand total of my collection up to an even dozen. I’ve always wanted to have something to collect, and obviously, it’s domain names. I decided that since I’ve changed the theme of my blog, Meggers.org really wasn’t appropriate anymore. Which is alright, cause I’ve thought up another use for that anyway. And DProphet.com/meggers? That’s always been confusing – you wouldn’t believe the number of times I’ve been asked why Heather’s Blog is at a Meggers address.
I’ve finally decided to lay the confusion to rest. Or rather, replace it with a better, more intriguing confusion! Want to know what I’m talking about? Want to see a hint of what the design will look like? Want to know what I’ve been working on for weeks and weeks? Here’s a little taste test for you – but if you’re going to look, you have to promise me that you’ll post a comment here with your thoughts on the design. Okay? Deal? Good. So here you go, it’s The Heather Show. 🙂
The new blog should be up soon. My brother Kevin is being oh so very wonderful and working on a CSS tutorial for me so we can get that blog up right, programmed in validate-able loveliness. It’s all so very exciting, don’t you think? 🙂 Well okay, at least I think it is. Now be sure to comment! I want to know what you all think. It’s a big drastic change in style for me – I’ve never done anything like this before – so I’m eager for feedback.
We fear change! Nice design though.
Bambi rocks! How could anyone hat Bambi. Its a classic.
You could carry the camera around your neck, hooked onto a loop on your jeans, or leave it in your glove compartment.
=D Love it. And I love what it will look like too. And the merch. The “Heather Show” idea is a keeper =D Very you.
There are digital cameras out there that would most likely fit in a jeans pocket. Heck, my digital camera fits in my pocket, and it’s not even close to the smallest out there now. Or, if you don’t need super high quality, you could get one of the new 1+ megapixel camera phones.
BTW, the new design looks excellent. 🙂
Cute new design! Is this all original (Heather) artwork? Do you mind telling us what tools you used?
Thanks, everybody! I’m glad the design’s going over well. I’ll keep the camera suggestions in mind, but right now my pockets are filled up with my keys, wallet, and cell phone. I don’t think I could fit anything else in them. I think I’ll just have to resign myself to carrying a small mini-backpack purse.
Timothy – All of the artwork, save for one bit, was created entirely by myself. The background, the logo, the entire scheme. But my brother Steven’s drawing skills are far superior to mine, so I explained that I wanted the outline of a woman’s silhouette, so he drew a few for me. To create the design, I used Paint Shop Pro 5, just cause I’m more used to it than Photoshop and can tend to get things done faster. As for getting the actual site done, I’m having major help in that department. Meaning, my brother Kevin’s doing it as a kind of CSS tutorial for me. Pretty cool, eh? 🙂
