Just wanted to let everyone know that the operation went fine, there weren’t any major complications, and now I’m just hanging out in a hospital bed for pain control. I don’t know how long I’ll be here, but I’m really glad I have such a good pain management doctor who went out of his way to be my anesthesiologist, cause most people go home the same day as surgery and are in absolute agony. Sure, I have a higher threshold for narcotics thanks to being so used to them, so regular pain meds wouldn’t do anything for me, which is why I’m here in the hospital. But in the end it works out better because at least this way the tonsil pain isn’t as bad as it would be for most people. Or so I’m guessing. Although who knows, cause along with the high narcotics threshold, I also have a high pain threshold. And after having at least six operations that left me feeling like I’d been hit by a truck, you’d think I’d be used to some pretty nasty pain. And I am.

And I’m babbling. I blame the drugs and lack of sleep. One interesting thing I did want to say is that the doctor told my Mom that he was really surprised at just how nasty the tonsils were when he took them out. Sure I’ve had a load of really bad colds and stuff over the past several years, but it’s always impossible to figure out how bad infections are with me because my white blood cel count NEVER goes up. Well, apparently those were just colds I had, because the surgeon said that the tonsils were full of dead, necrotic tissue and had very obviously been hideously infected several times. So it’s a really, REALLY good thing they’ve come out, which makes it all the more worthwhile having this done. It also helps that I get to eat as much ice cream as I want. Believe it or not, this hospital actually has good ice cream hidden downstairs in the cafeteria – I never in my wildest dreams thought that cotton candy flavored ice cream would be good, but right now it tastes like heaven to me. It’s tasty, and it numbs my throat, so hoorah for that.

Now I’m gonna watch a movie and eat my ice cream. So there you go, I’m alive, I made it, and I’ll blog again when something happens, like me going home or whatever. In the meantime, try some cotton candy ice cream, and then this blog could be in Flavor-vision! Wooooo!

Yup, that’s getting blamed on the drugs too. 🙂
