Argh. Can you believe I didn’t blog yesterday? And I was actually feeling better for a while. A short while, anyway. I was pretty happy in the morning, I even did some frolicking (not really, I just like that word.) But in the afternoon it all came crashing down again, so I crashed on the couch and watched ‘The Adventures of Pete & Pete.’ Does anyone remember that show? It was on back in 1993-1995, and I barely paid attention to it then. Now it’s syndicated on Noggin (one of the world’s crappiest networks) and it’s actually kind of funny now. Mindless, true, but it’s one of those random things that’s strange yet funny, and you’re not really sure why. Like that sticker I saw at Hot Topic; “I poke badgers with spoons.” It’s so random and strange it hits some funny bone hidden deep in your subconscious. That’s what Pete & Pete is like. You should watch is sometime, then email me saying, ‘Huh? You’re weird!’
No, wait, on second thought, don’t email me. I’ve been trying to work through all the emails that have piled up since I’ve been sick and it hasn’t been fun. It’s hard to be perky when all I can think about is “ow, ow, ow, my jaw hurts, ow, ow, ow.” (That’s an exact quote, by the way.) 🙂
I suppose you could email me, if you really want to, but don’t tell me I’m weird just for watching Pete & Pete from time to time. Heck, if you don’t like it, *you’re* the one that’s weird! So there. 😛
I think I’m channeling Edith Ann today, sorry about that. Now I think I actually need to take cold medicine so I can blame this latest bit of rambling on it. So my emails are down to 32, which is just under halfway through. As of this time yesterday I had 65 emails in my inbox, and none of it was junk mail. I’ve gone through the oldest stuff first so if I haven’t gotten to yours yet, I apologize, but I’ll get to it soon.
I couldn’t sleep last night because I was chanting that quote again and again, so I stayed up watching ‘To Kill a Mockingbird.’ That has to be one of the nicest movies ever made. I think I’m going to start preparing a list of movies I think everyone should watch, then once I get it somewhat done I’ll post it on here somewhere. I know To Kill a Mockingbird will be on it, as will a few other cultural classics like Casablanca, A Hard Day’s Night, The Seven Year Itch, etc. They don’t have to be compelling dramas or earth-shattering documentaries. They’ll also be cultural icons that I think everyone should at least be familiar with, if not for any other reason than to get a lot of cultural jokes. Like Fred Astaire. I told a great Fred Astaire joke to somebody a few months ago and they didn’t get it. All they said was, “Who’s Fred Astaire?” She was a college graduate! Twice my age! And she still had *no idea* who Fred Astaire was. That’s just sad. It was such a good joke! 🙂
I need to know what that fred astaire joke was! My friends And I are desperately seeking one, I forget the reason but pleeeease remember it
