And proud of it! I meant to tell this story yesterday, but I forgot. Last night when Mom, Dad, Steven, and I were driving home from dinner, my Dad mentioned that while he was at a friend’s house the night before he got to borrow their telescope to check out Mars. As you surely know, Mars is the closest it has been to Earth in about 60,000 years, give or take a year or two. I was extremely jealous, of course, but the next thing out of my mouth was, “I can’t wait to see the new Hubble pictures! I bet they’ll be great!” Everybody agreed, then the conversation kind of fell flat. A few moments later, Steven said, “Hey, wait a minute; my sister just said ‘I can’t wait to see the new Hubble pictures’… who else has a sister like that?”
It’s hard to deny geekdom when my idea of a dreamboat is a photograph of Mars. That planet’s dreamy.
Oh. I just realized something else. I just subscribed to the MIT Technology Review. I’d better watch myself before I turn into an absolute nerd! 🙂
Some guys like female geeks.
Revel in your geekness!
What I think is cool, is that four days ago NASA launched SIRTF, the 4th and last of it’s big space based telescopes, which will examine the infrared spectrum and will no doubt produce all kinds of neat, new knowledge. With the Hubble examining the visible spectrum, Chandra studying x-rays, and Compton examining gamma rays(till it got a gimpy gyroscope), this completes the set.
The hubble pictures look cool.
Ha, you’re a geek. 😛
🙂
geek girls kick ass! having a girl talk about wookies and astronomy is far better than talking about jennifer lopez and sex in the city.
