I had my first highway flirting experience today while driving my car! For nearly half an hour this cute little Silver Volkswagen GTI and I were heading in the same direction. At first, it was all a coincidence that we’d end up side-by-side. But then, he kind of swerved to be next to me again. We looked at each other for a second through the windows, then I’d speed up just to test him. Sure enough, a few seconds later, there he was again. We played back and forth for a while (safely, of course), until finally my stop came up. So I had to say good-bye to VDUB 337… it was great. He made me smile, and hey, he was pretty cute too. 🙂
I checked out a couple gyms in the area today. I’m thinking I’d better get into better shape if I’m going to have a TV show. If nothing else, I need to keep up with the schedule. I found a pretty good one right near my house; the manager personally gave me a tour of the place and we talked for about an hour about my options. I’d even get a personal trainer! And it’s not that expensive, either. He’s going to bend the rules a bit since my schedule’s going to be a bit unpredictable. So I can pay month-by-month and if I’m only going to be in town for a week or two out of the month, they’ll charge me by the week for that period. And, he’s even giving me the first month entirely free. Isn’t he lovely? Much better than the other Gym I went to. Now all I have to do is convince Mom to pay for it, since I have no money. Not yet, anyway. But I really want to do this. I’ve even decided what my fitness goal will be. I want Jayne Mansfield’s measurements: 40 – 25- 35 and a half. I don’t care about actual poundage, those numbers really don’t mean too much anyway. For example, I usually tend to weigh close to what Kim Basinger weighs, but I still definitely don’t look like Kim Basinger. But the measurements, that I think would be a much better thing to work toward. Much more reasonable, anyway.
I’m bored now. I hate saying that, but I’ve got a headache again. Can’t sleep. Wah wah wah. 🙂
Last night I Tivo-ed a special on TCM about Gary Cooper. You know, I think if you put Gary Cooper, James Stewart, Cary Grant, and Gregory Peck and put them all together, that would be my ideal man. Tall order, I know (especially considering both Coop and Stewart were 6’3″ – tee hee.) I just love Gary Cooper’s movies. He really was the personification of American gentry. If only it weren’t for that one faux pas with Patricia Neal, then dang, he very nearly could have fit the bill himself. Although, I’d hate to give up James Stewart’s sense of bravery and gentle good nature, or Cary Grant’s humor and charm, or Gregory Peck’s integrity and fatherly attributes. But Coop, he was amazing. I just recently saw High Noon for the first time and even at that age, he still carried it all off so beautifully.
HA! I just went to IMDB to double check that Jimmy Stewart was really 6’3″ like Coop, and the trivia section’s amazing! So full of stuff that I didn’t even know… which is shocking, since I’ve seen several biographies of him. Here are some really amazing basics that everyone should know, followed by some other new things that really caught my eye:
– He put his career on hold to enter the Air Force one year before Pearl Harbor was bombed. He earned the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Croix de Guerre and 7 battle stars. Eventually he became a brigadier general.
– He stayed married to the same woman – Gloria Hatrick McLean – until she died. They were married for forty-five years.
– Would you believe he’s a Boy Scout? Not only that, he received the highest recognition a Boy Scout can earn – He’s an Eagle.
– Finally, get this, it blew me away: Much of his works were donated to Brigham Young University in 1983, including Stewart’s personal copy of “It’s a Wonderful Life”. (For those of you who may not know, BYU is an LDS school.)
Okay, maybe Jimmy Stewart fits the bill perfectly. Not only was he funny, he was courageous, dedicated, loyal, a family man, intelligent, loved architecture, and now I’m really curious why he donated all that stuff to BYU. Man, if he was a Mormon… 🙂 Now I’ve just got to look up Gregory Peck, I wonder what there is to know about him that I haven’t found yet!
Needless to say, I’m not bored anymore. 🙂
HA! Gregory Peck was 6’3″ too!! I *love* this game!
I’m 6’3″, have donated stuff to BYU, am an Eagle scout, and thought briefly about the Air Force. Does that mean I have a successful movie career opening up soon?
Well you should be aware that all of the people she mentioned are now dead. I wouldn’t suggest getting too close to them if you catch my drift.
