I’m feeling a wee bit lost and I need some help from Geekdom – can anyone recommend a good source for learning PHP/MySQL? I’d prefer a book that’s as short as humanly possible, because the more verbage there is, the less likely I am to remember it at this point. If it’s an online tutorial, that’s peachy too I suppose. But it’s gotta be good – I’ve been having a devil of a time remembering technical crap lately, but I’m ready to give it another shot. It’s about dang time because I really need to get the Daily Prophet going and I’m having a hard time finding a programmer that isn’t, well, frustrating. Anything you lovely geeks could to do advise me would be fantabulous. Or hey, if one of you wants to swoop in and save the day a la Superman and help me program it, I’d buy you a cookie. Heck, I’d buy you a whole bunch of cookies. And, more than that, you could write off your time on your taxes, now that I’m all tax-exempt and stuff. Think about it, Superman, and get back to me on that. 😉 Danke.

Generally, PHP is a very easy language to learn. If you have worked with another structured programming language like C, or Perl, some of PHP will seem very familiar to you, and you’ll find the language very easy to pick up. But keep in mind that previous experience in programming is not a pre-requisite for learning PHP or for understanding the concepts presented in this series. The only thing that is required is a desire to make the leap to server-side programming, and a thorough understanding of HTML.
