A couple blog entries ago I mentioned that I had created a short film in order to enter a contest sponsored by American Airlines. Unfortunately I didn’t make it into the finals for whatever reason, but I’m trying to look on the bright side. So far the brightest part of not winning those twelve free trips for two is that I can finally show off my lovely movie to all you charming people! Isn’t that exciting? 🙂 Click here to view First Flight!

The rules of the contest dictated that my movie had to – in under a minute – answer the question, “Why Do You Fly?” I happened to be flying American Airlines when I went to California last month for my friend Amber’s wedding, so naturally the film’s story had a lot to do with her. I’m very, very proud of my filming work and the editing Kevin and I did to pull it all together. I’m a slightly less proud of the voice-over I recorded; it’s fine and all, I was just taken aback by how high-pitched I sound. I swear, I don’t hear myself that way.

Anyway, if you’d like to find out what I sound like and take a gander at my exciting trip to San Francisco, feel free to download First Flight. It’s only 3.2MB, so it shouldn’t take too long. Hope you enjoy and please post some feedback on it if you have a moment.

In other news, I’ve finally updated the LoveBug galleries with a few more cartoons. I’m particularly proud of the latest one; I came up with the caption ages ago but was struggling with how to illustrate it. I finally worked up the guts to draw something a bit more complex than the previous lovebugs and I think it turned out rather well. You can see the complete version here.

As always, if you have any ideas for Lovebug captions, please do post a comment and let me know what’s on your mind. For some reason I’m slightly less cynical about mushy crap at the moment so I’m having a bit of difficulty coming up with captions on my own. Any help would be appreciated. 🙂
