I’m going to PIttsburgh! Erm, okay, that sounds far more exciting than it really is. I’ve gotten things arranged with the doctors up in Pittsburgh who are supposedly experts on Dercum’s Disease, and I’m going to be seeing one of them next Friday for a pre-surgery evaluation. They’re really keen to operate on me and are saying that they could operate on me as soon as February 2nd, if not sooner. Apparently if I frown pretty and tell them how bad it hurts, they’ll try to clear a day on their schedule for me. I’m not counting on it because I’m getting really tired of getting my hopes up only to have them dashed again, but hey, it’s something. Sure, it’s not quite Texas, but if it means not dying, then hey, I’m all for it.
But eugh, Pittsburgh… I was so excited about Texas. They had good beef, nice people, pretty shopping malls, cheap perfume, more good beef, and a really good friend. But Pittsburgh… My brother did find that there’s a cool robotics exhibit there, so they at least have something going for them. Ah well, if Pittsburgh can fix me and get me into the operating room before my birthday, even if it’s only by a few days, I’ll love them forever.
Now for some distraction though! I’ve been getting all excited about this Heather Show Video Variety Spectacular thing, so I’ve been adding more and more stuff to it today. I added a short film that my buddy Sujit made, and I created an entirely new section… are you ready for it? Are you sure? Cause baby, it’s swingin’, can you dig? Check it out!
Ta da! Scopitones! I’ve mentioned these cute little 60’s music videos before, but now you too can share in the joy! Isn’t it fantabulous? There are nine complete Scopitones available now, and more on their way (thanks to the video editing super powers of my brother Steve). I’m so excited, I just love Scopitones. As stupid as they are, they serve as great giggly distractions from life-crap. You should check them out, because they’re sure to make you laugh, wince, and smile all at once. 🙂 I love them so much I just couldn’t keep them to myself. Go, download them, and giggle along with me, won’t you?

Oh my … all of these 60’s women are dancing around in bikinis shaking what God gave them! One of them looks familiar … wait a sec … hold your horses … Mom!? … Is that you!? … Why are you dressed like an Indian? … Are those tassles truly necessary? … What do you mean Barry Young is my dad!? … This all too much for one guy to handle in one night. ;p
Hey, Pittsburgh has the Pirates! Pirates are awesome! Well, maybe not the baseball team . . . they suck . . . but pirates are cool!
AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH! -_^
There will be no shortage of things to do in Pittsburgh. It will be Super Bowl week, and their team is in it. There is a nice downtown area across the bridge from the football and baseball stadiums. There should be some pleasant restaurants with some VERY HAPPY local residents celebrating the Steelers.
The one time I went to Pittsburgh was for a friend’s wedding. The reception was at the grounds of Henry Clay Frick’s estate. There was a huge garage area with vintage cars. Also, the greenhouse has some wonderful varietal plants. Be sure to bring a Macro lens for your camera. The house/art museum was closed for the event, but I’m sure that it is nice. I am sure this will be a peaceful diversion for you.
