Mwahahaha, the circle of my entertainment is now complete!

(By the way, you should totally read that in a Darth Vader voice. Just so you know.)

Ever since my friend Jimi bought me that Playstation 3 for Christmas, I’ve been working on setting up the best entertainment system possible in my room. As I’ve recounted here on my blog, I saved up my money so I could buy myself an awesome flat screen HDTV, then I convinced my parents to switch to a different cable provider so I could get TV reception in my bedroom. Then I kept on saving money so I could buy an unbelievably awesome HD Tivo, then a 1 terabyte extra hard drive for my Tivo.

I thought my entertainment system was then complete, but oh no, I was wrong. Another brilliant plan of entertainment awesomeness came up, one that I just had to bring to fruition…

Hooking up my desktop PC to my brilliant flat screen HDTV so that I could use my newly upgraded uber-powerful PC… FROM BED!! Yet again, mwahahahaha!

Okay, so the idea wasn’t entirely mine. For the past several years, my brother has had a similar set up in his room, only instead of a TV, he just has his computer hooked up to two monitors; one on his desk, one attached to the ceiling right above his loft bed. That way when he’s laying in bed, he can use his secondary monitor, keyboard, and mouse to fully utilize his desktop PC from a second location. I’ve been endlessly jealous of that for years, but I had no idea how I’d replicate it in my room. I didn’t like the idea of hanging a monitor from my pretty walls, so that just wouldn’t work.

But now that I have my TV, oooo, problem solved! 🙂

Originally I did try to hook up my MacMini to the TV, but argh… have I told you lately how much I hate macs? No matter what I tried to do, my stupid Mac couldn’t figure out the native resolution of the TV. I kept trying to tell it, but it wouldn’t listen. I read myriad forums, tried multiple tutorials and it just never worked. One day when I was horribly frustrated and wanted to chuck the Mac out the window, my Mom came in to ask what was wrong. After I was done ranting, she said, “Why can’t you just hook up the PC to the TV?”

So now, about a week and a half later, after ordering many, many parts from Amazon (like this kick butt awesome bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo) and waiting for them to arrive, then a quick run to the local computer store to pick up a cable, it’s finally up and running.

Thus, I’m comfortably blogging and surfing the great wide interwebs from my bed. Isn’t technology awesome? I think now I’m going to play The Sims 3 from bed, because I can.

And just one more of these for good measure: Mwahahahahaha! 🙂
